• Pre-order & payment: When you back HyNote Ink with a $2.99 refundable pledge, we collect your name, email, and billing details. Payment card data is handled by Stripe—we never store your full card number.
• Newsletter: If you subscribe via "Stay Updated," we collect your email address.
• Support: Information you share when contacting us about refunds, orders, or product feedback.

Information collected automatically

When you visit hynote.ai, we collect basic analytics—such as browser type, device, and page interactions—to keep the site running smoothly. We do not use invasive cross-site tracking.

HyNote Ink is designed for focused, distraction-free learning. When you use the device:

• Local storage: Lectures, notes, flashcards, and recordings are stored on the device.
• Distraction-free study: The e-ink companion keeps you out of your main phone while you review and learn.
• Glance work: Capture, review, remember, and pin—the next action, reminder, or card without full app navigation.

A detailed hardware privacy agreement will be provided when you activate your device.

We use website data to:

• Confirm your early backer spot and lock in early hardware pricing.
• Process your $2.99 pledge, apply it at final checkout, or issue a full refund on request.
• Send transactional emails about your reservation status.
• Send development and launch updates if you joined our newsletter. You can unsubscribe anytime.
• Prevent fraud and maintain site security.

We may share information only when necessary:

• Service providers: Payment processors (e.g. Stripe), hosting providers, and shipping partners when devices are ready to ship.
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our users and rights.
• Business transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your reservation data may transfer as a business asset.

Some HyNote Ink features use Google Gemini, a third-party AI service operated by Google LLC, to process your chat messages and file attachments:

• Content you choose to process with AI features—such as chat messages and file attachments—is sent to Google Gemini.
• Your content is not used to train Google's AI models.
• The app will ask for your explicit permission before sending any data to the AI service. You may decline, and AI features will not process your content.

Depending on where you live (including under CCPA/CPRA or GDPR), you may have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data. Deleting pre-order data before shipment will cancel your reservation and refund your $2.99 pledge.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information—we do not sell your data.
• Receive equal service regardless of exercising your privacy rights.

We retain your reservation and payment records until you complete your purchase or request a refund. Your $2.99 pledge is fully refundable anytime before production. After a refund or final purchase, we keep only the billing records required for tax and accounting purposes.
